Itinerary

DAY ONE

Departure from La Paz down to the valley of Sorata. The afternoon is spent exploring the caves of San Pedro and the night spent in hostel accommodation.

DAY TWO

A gentle start, five hours up to the Estancia of Lakatia at 4,700m, where camp will be set.

DAY THREE

Time to take on the first pass of 4,950m, after which we descend into the community de Ancoma at 4,600m.

DAY FOUR

Our second pass is at a similar altitude to the first, and takes us into the community of Cocoyo, again at 4,600m.

DAY FIVE

From Cocoyo we take on a more gentle pass (4,750m approx) and dip into yet another valley, where we will camp in the village of Chacolpaya.

DAY SIX

A spectacular pass between the mountains of Chearoko and the Warawarani range awaits us today, before descending into Chacapampa (not the Chacapampa at the end of the trek, another!)

DAY SEVEN

The lowest pass of the trek today, at 4,600m taking us to the village of Lloco Lloconi.

DAY EIGHT

A rest day. Here we have reached a road, where we will take advantage of the opportunity to stock up on food and use the vehicle to take us to the next camp spot at the edge of the Laguna K'otia. The road takes us over a pass of around 5,115m.

DAY NINE

From Laguna K'otia, we will trek over two different passes until we arrive at Laguna Janchallani, where we will make camp for the night.

DAY TEN

Another two passes today(!). The first pass takes us to Laguna Juri Khota, The second pass is the highest pass we will take on walking on this trek (at around 5,100m). From there we will descend to Laguna Chiar Khota, which is also the base camp for any expeditions into the Condoriri range.

DAY ELEVEN

This is a more gentle day after the challenging day ten, but still involving two different passes to cross. Our camp spot at the end of this day will be the community of Jankohuma.

DAY TWELVE

Departure from Jankohuma for the home straight to Chacapampa at 3,500m. Today is a downhill day. From here our vehicle will be waiting for us to take us back to La Paz, via the base of the mighty Huayna Potosi, for a well deserved beer and pizza!

DAY THIRTEEN

Reserve / rest day. It is often popular to spend the rest day in the Condoriri range (day ten) to have the opportunity to explore this magnificent valley.
